I can finally stop complaining about no snow. Before today there were three light rain events in Denver and no snow since Thanksgiving. The mountains though have been getting hammered with feet of snow over the last week. The day I've been waiting for was arrived. It is snowing today in Denver!!! and during the daytime so I can see it well. Several inches of light and moderate snow is falling. Some snow has been in the forecast for the last several days but it did not happen until last night and today. The snow has finally hit in Denver!
(an hour late) Okay, I just went for a walk in the snow. It is 15 F outside.. brrr.. It was much easier walking in the direction the wind is blowing rather than walking into the wind. I took a few pictures that I will have ready after the holidays. It is a dry snow. It is pouring down small snowflakes.
Below is the radar from 2 pm.
I knew it would be a good day for snow when I woke up and saw the following precipitation output from the NAM. The other models looked good also.. all producing several inches of snow for Denver!
Oh Yeah!! the snow is at its greatest intensity this evening. Really coming down. The ground is totally covered in white. Below is the 8pm radar. The front range is getting a nice covering of snow!
Check out the evening Denver temperature. 12 F.... 12 F!... with snow. A winter wonderland.
We ended up getting about 5 inches of snow!
Below are some photos of the snow event
